Frequently Asked Questions

This sounds too good to be true.  Are there any catches?
This is a common question and the answer is no.  Teachers and their classroom supporters place gift card orders with Cash for Classrooms and each purchase earns money for their classrooms.  Each customer pays the face value of the card and the card issuing merchant donates a percentage of each purchase to your classroom.   You pay nothing extra and use the full value of the card.  Our program is every bit as good as it sounds!

What is Cash for Classrooms?
Cash for Classrooms is a gift card cash back rebate program designed specifically for teachers' classrooms. Teachers and their supporters may purchase gift cards to use for everyday expenses or to distribute as gifts, with each purchase earning a cash donation to the teacher's classroom. Any teacher, parent, family member or friend may participate. The rebate checks are delivered four times per year.

Are there any additional costs to me?
Each gift card or gift Certificate is sold at face value to you, so you pay only the value of the card. A minimal fee is charged to cover shipping and handling costs.  Shipping fees are generally less than $1.00 per order and we offer free shipping everday on orders over $400.

How will I know how much my Cash for Classrooms purchases have earned?
Once a order is placed, click on "Sign in To My Classroom" to view paid and un-paid earnings along with all of your purchases.

How often will I get a check for the money earned?
A check will be mailed out quarterly to your classroom shipping address each quarter.

Can any teacher participate in the program?
Cash for Classrooms is available to any Pre-K through 12 certified teachers.

Can my family, friends or student parents participate?
Yes, Cash for Classrooms can be used by anyone to raise money for your classroom.

Are their limitations on how the money is to be used?
No.  THe money is to be used at the teacher's discretion.  Many participants use the funds to purchase classroom supplies, learning aids, or to cover out of pocket expenses.  With the funds earned from Cash for Classrooms, teachers spend less out of their own pockets to provide for their students.

Are Cash for Classroom Cards the same as gift Cards you can purchase at a store?
Yes. The only difference is that when you purchase through the Cash for Classrooms program you will earn cash back for your classroom.

Do the gift cards expire?
Most of the gift cards do not have expiration dates.  However, each merchant has different terms and conditions listed on the back of the gift card for your review. Prior to purchase, you may visit the card-issuing merchant website to view any expiration rules or restrictions.

Am I obligated to participate after trying the program out?
No. You can participate as much or as little as you like.

When will I receive my gift Cards once I place an order?
Depending on your location you should receive the gift cards in 7-10 days or less.  Shipments are generally made the same day as the order is received, providing the item is in stock.

What if I don’t see a particular merchant I would like to purchase gift cards from?
If you don’t see a merchant you would like, send us an e-mail with your suggestion at
info@cashforclassrooms.comWe will do our best to make that merchant part of our program.

Is there a minimum order to participate?
No. There is no minimum order quantity or dollar amount required to participate.

Why can’t I pay by credit card?
Because credit card transactions may cost as much as 3% of the purchase we have opted to save the cost of the transaction fees to maximize the cash back to you. We accept checks by mail or Electronic Checks/ACH withdrawal from your checking account as payment.

What is  Electronic Check/ACH payment?

The Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network is an network allowing financial institutions to safely transmit funds electronically from one institution to another.  ACH transactions are an electronic version of a paper check with funds transmitted from your checking account to that of Cash for Classrooms.

Is ACH safe? Yes. ACH payments are very safe and information is encrypted in our secure website.  Once the transaction has been processed, your account information is deleted from our system.

Are there tax implications with my earnings?  No. The earnings received from Cash for Classrooms are much like rewards or cash back incentives earned with many credit cards and are treated as rebates. There are no tax liabilities incurred.
